"I really enjoyed this book, much more than I have any other book I have read that attempted to discuss the temple." -The Exponent"Appropriate, light filled, truth filled, testifies of Christ and His goodness, testifies of the Holiness of the Temple, helps us understand the purpose and real meaning of covenants, and is, truly, a treasure; a gem." - Heidi Allen Garvin, Mormom Moms Blog

I have read several books regarding the temple, temple symbolism, the gate of heaven, the endowment in early church history (both Peter, James and John's time as well as Joseph Smith's time), anti-Mormon articles regarding Mormons and Mason, the plan of salvation, etc. Many of these are great books and make more sense to me now that I have read this book. However, Cory Jensen's book expounds on and re-emphasizes the key element of the temple, which I think is missing from the other books I've read regarding the temple. That key element is covenants.Rightfully so, Cory has given much credit to the work of two non-LDS authors, H. Clay Trumbull and James L. Garlow, regarding blood covenants. This is extremely helpful information which, in my opinion, clearly bears witness to the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ through the Prophet Joseph Smith. By understanding that the ordinances taught to mankind by Jesus Christ are the divinely established means by which we enter into eternal covenants with God, the Father, all the other pieces of the temple fall into place more easily: the rites and rituals, the ceremonial clothing, our understanding of the symbols, etc. What may seem strange to modern-day Christians becomes much clearer when viewed in light of blood covenants in the Old Testament. Why this is not pointed out more readily by scriptural scholars as the primary explanation to the temple covenants is curious. This is the most helpful book I have read regarding the temple endowment, which is really a ceremony by which we enter into sacred covenants with God, the Father. Jesus Christ is the messenger of the covenants, He is the mediator of the covenants, and His blood effects the covenants. It is our privilege to enter into divinely ordained covenants with our Heavenly Father and to receive divine help (grace) to live up to our part of these covenants. Thank you to H. Clay Trumbull, James L. Garlow and Cory Jensen for their work, which I believe will help anyone who attends the temple to see more clearly and understand more fully how the atonement of Jesus Christ is in every aspect of the temple.

I read this book to prepare to recieve my endowment. This of course was just before Cory Jenson wrote Preparing for your Endowment. I really enjoy reading it, and often go back and reread certain parts. It's very insightful and will be sure to have my scriptures alongside to more thoroughly study the verses within. I bought it on Kindle but I must say that I would love to buy a physical copy so that I can refer to it often. I learned a great deal on covenants and their symbolism and can say that it helped me immensely. I had read an article from Greg Trimble's blog in which he quoted President David O. McKay experience and how many go to the House of the Lord only to be disappointed. I did not want to be one of those people. I am thankful for this book because I knew that I wanted to be 100 percent sure I was ready to make such a commitment and wanted to know for myself that I took time to prepare and study. I can echo what others have said going your first time may seem overwhelming, but I do feel like this book helped me understand the experience and made that day more meaningful. I would definitely recommend reading this book to all members. It doesn't disclose what goes on in the temple but it will help you ponder and understand more fully and motivate you to continue to go to the House of the Lord. It's easy to understand and am thankful because I tried reading others and can say that they only overwhelmed me. So I am very appreciative for this book.

I believe that every member should read this. Whether you have attended the temple once, many times or are going for the first time, this will give you a better understanding of the endowment. In order for us each to grow this understanding is essential to us all.

This book is a great resource for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! It explains clearly and plainly covenants and promises we make in these holy houses of God. The author keeps the information appropriate and did a great job explaining the messages using scripture, the words of modern day prophets and apostles, and personal experience. He keeps sacred the information that needs to be kept sacred and not discussed outside of the temple. This book came to me at a perfect time as I have been working to gain greater light and truth. I also read Robert Millet's 'Men of Covenant' before this book which helped prepare me to better understand this book. This book opened my eyes to clearly see things I was beginning to see. It also humbled me in helping me to realize that there is so much more to learn. I have read the book once so far and am now going to read it again at a slower pace to soak in the information and do the homework.

The first half was informative and on target. As a sealer myself, I think he missed the point of the power of the sealing. I also did not feel comfortable with his discussion of having one's calling and election made sure. He makes it sound unattainable - even though he says we can and should achieve it. The sealing itself, if properly understood, addresses one's "destiny" to receive exaltation...even as he correctly quotes Elder Packer on the promise contained in the sealing.

Thank you, Cory Jensen, for writing this very inspiring book. It has answered many questions that I have had about some gospel principles and Ordinances. It has given me new perspectives to ponder and pray about, as well as a greater understanding of the covenants I have made. To others who are planning to attend the temple for the first time as well as those who have already been to the temple, I recommend reading this book to gain a greater understanding of "what more is there?" and to help enhance your temple worship.

Focuses mostly on idea of covenant relationships. Has some very good insights in it. I thought it was very helpful. Only reason I marked it down is because I was looking for more on each of the levels of covenants we make. It gives quite a bit of historical/scriptural background.
